Packing Your Kitchenware

The kitchen is probably the hardest room you’ll have to pack, with all its small items, and drawers and cupboards, there’s just so much stuff to sort through. When it comes to packing your kitchen, it’s important to take your time and pack properly.

Here are a few tips for packing kitchenware:

Kitchen Knives

Kitchen knives need to be properly wrapped to avoid injury or any damage to the knives. Start by separating your knives into different groups by size and sharpness. The smaller knives can be packed together; the big kitchen knives should be packed individually. You should use bubble wrap or strong packing paper when packing knives. Make sure the knives are snug enough so that they won’t move around the box. Lastly, don’t forget to label the box.

Dishes

The best way to pack dishes is by using bubble wrap for each dish. Wrap each dish with bubble wrap and stack them carefully in a box. Don’t over pack and use lots of newspaper as a buffer.  You don’t want too many dishes in the box as they will knock together.

Glasses

Just like dishes, be sure to use plenty of bubble wrap and newspaper. When stacking glasses just make sure that you put paper in the glasses themselves to prevent them from chipping.

Utensils

Packing your utensils should be quite easy. Try to keep all the utensils in a box that has a padded surface. You don’t want them moving around too much and damaging the box.

Small Appliances

Toasters, blenders, microwaves, toaster ovens and other appliances are not difficult to move. It’s important to clean your small appliances before moving. If possible, disassemble them to prevent damage.
