6 Tips for Packing Your Garage

Your garage is one of the most difficult places to tackle when packing for a move. This is a major task, especially since it’s not often a place homeowners prioritize to clean. Many garages typically include extra storage and tools, which can be difficult to pack. Below are some tips on how to begin packing your garage!

Pack the Garage First!

Once you’ve decided you’re moving out of the house, begin by packing your garage. Since its typically the messiest room in your house, it can be overwhelming, especially if you have tools in your garage that you have to be extra careful with when you pack. The garage usually takes the longest to pack, so it’s best just to get it out of the way.

Hazardous Items

Begin cleaning your garage by safely disposing hazardous items including pesticides, fertilizers, oil and gas. You can’t bring these items with you on the move anyway, so it’s best to just get them out of the way.

Tools

Gardening tools, brooms and mops should be packed by bundling them together securely. Ensure that you remove any attachments from the power tools and place them in a separate box with crushed paper. If you have any tools with sharp edges, wrap them in old towels in order to avoid any injury. Find the old box from your power tools and try to place them in lose.

Nuts & Bolts

If you find small nuts, bolts, screws or nails lying on the floor in your garage, save them for another time and store them in a plastic bag temporarily so that you don’t lose them.

Sharp and Delicate Edges

For tools delicate tools and tools with sharp edges, ensure that you wrap them in bubble wrap. This will allow them to stay safe in the moving truck.

Garage Sale
