Get a Jumpstart on Your Summer Move

Summer is the most popular time of the year to move. While you don’t have to worry about dealing with snow and ice, you do have to worry about the summer heat. We have put together a few moving tips that will help you stay cool and composed during a summer move.

Plan in Advance

Moving requires advanced planning. If you’re going to move in the summer, you need to be even more on top of things. Summer is the busiest season to move, and moving companies are booked weeks ahead of time, so even if you’re not moving for a few months, remember there is no such thing as booking too early.

Research Movers

Don’t just settle for the first moving company you find. Be diligent, do your research and ask for references. Remember that just because it’s the busy season doesn’t mean you can’t negotiate for a better price.

Throw out anything you don’t want

There’s really no point taking a bunch of junk from your old house to your new one, because that is just going to clutter your new home. Do the hard work now and throw out anything that you no longer have any use for. If you can, donate all your unwanted clothes, shoes or books, etc.

Take Breaks

After everything is packed up, take a few hours to relax and unwind. There’s still a lot of work ahead, but that doesn’t mean you need to do it all at once.

Involve Your Kids

If you have children, you can either arrange for a babysitter to watch them or involve them with the move. Since moving can be a difficult transition for kids of any age, having them help out can make it easier.

Get a Pet Sitter

If you have any pets, you should consider sending them off to a pet daycare or have a friend watch them. That’s just one less thing you have to worry about on your moving day.

Stay Cool & Hydrated

Loading and unloading boxes and other items into the truck involves a lot of physical labour, which can end up making you dehydrated. Even though you’re busy, make sure that you’re drinking plenty of water.

If you need help with your move this summer, give the professionals at Armando Movers a call! Our movers can handle all of the physical labor for you.
